Facts about Bingo calls for numbers 51 to 60. The usual, boring, calls are something like "5 and 3, 53". Some numbers have other, more interesting calls.

Bingo calls for the number 51


  • Tweak of the thumb. Does the shape look like a hand?
  • Love my mum. Because it nearly rhymes. And everyone should do so!
  • The Highland Division. The British Army's 51st (Highland) Division was an infantry division that fought on the Western Front in France during First World War.

Bingo calls for the number 52


  • Danny La Rue. The famous drag artist. Also used for other numbers that end in 2.
  • Weeks in the year. Because there are 52 weeks in a year.
  • Cards in a pack. Because there are 52 cards in a pack.
  • The Lowland Division. The British Army's Lowland Division became the 52nd (Lowland) Division in 1915.

  • Here comes Herbie. 53 was the racing number of the VW Beetle in the Herbie films. The players often say "Beep, beep".
  • The Joker. The 53rd card in a pack.
  • The Welsh Division. The British Army's 53rd (Welsh) Division fought in both world wars.

  • Clean the floor. Because it rhymes, and the floor is dirty.
  • House with a bamboo door. Also because it rhymes. Sometimes shortened to "House of Bamboo".

  • Snakes alive. Because it rhymes, and one of the calls for 5 is "One little snake".
  • All the 5s. Self explanatory.
  • Bunch of 5s. A term for a fist.

  • Shotts bus. The former number of the bus from Glasgow to Shotts.
  • Was she worth it? Because 5 and 6 sounds like an amount of money in UK pre-decimalisation money. The players sometimes reply "Yes she was".

  • Heinz varities. Because Heinz often use the term "57 varieties", although they have many hundreds of them.
  • All the beans. A Heinz Beans reference. Other brands exist!

  • Make them wait. Another simple rhyme.
  • Choo choo Thomas. A reference to a song on the Thomas the Tank Engine cartoon.

Bingo calls for the number 59


  • The Brighton line. Because it rhymes. Other railway lines are also used. The players often reply "Choo choo", to sound like a steam train.

Bingo calls for the number 60


  • 5 dozen. A dozen is 12 things, and 5 12s are 60.
  • 3 score. A score is 20 things, and 3 20s are 60.
  • Blind sixty. The players will often say "Six, Oh" in a northern accent, and the caller will respond "Aye".
